We – ClubRisk – can’t describe the feeling we have with Mr KEVIN HEDGE & Mr JOSH MILAN of BLAZE coming over for a first ever gig in The Netherlands. Heck, one of the few ever gigs in Europe!!! BLAZE is the definition of LUVDANCIN. And they are the absolute summon within the USgarage/house soul scene. Few names come into mind when speaking of pioneers. But BLAZE is definitely up there! While some of those pioneers are more famous – Due to their worldwide dj gigs – like for instance the Masters at Work, BLAZE are really doing it! The absolute dons of New York House, Garage and Dance music, and quoted by many as one of THE influences to them.

This is US garage as it was intended by Larry Levan and his Paradise Garage disciples. Soulful and based on the traditions of both gospel and disco, Blaze have made not only flawlessly produced dance music for themselves and the dancefloor, but retouched luminaries such as Diana Ross, Kool & the Gang, Gerald Levert and De’Lacy. After being inspired by the soul of The Garage and also by Tony Humphries’ legendary residency at ZanzibarSince then Blaze is one of the most seminal duo’s in (Deep)House music and are the godfathers of the New Jersey soulful sound since the late 80’s.They made a brilliant album on MOTOWN records, many (instant) house classics, and definitions of what HOUSE is and should be. Besides the countless amount of singles, remixes and a few brilliant albums KEVIN HEDGE also runs the New York based label WEST-END records (THE disco label in the late 70ies and 80ies)
Busy, But they have still managed to come to AMSTERDAM for a gig at LUVDANCIN. KEVIN on the keys, JOSH MILAN on the vocals, bringing us the all time classics! KEVIN will even appear behind the decks bringing New York’s underground club sound -like the legendary club SHELTER- to Paradiso!!!

KC is on a tour through the US at the moment for his KINDRED SPIRITS album ‘A tribute to Sun Ra’ with covers from Theo Parrish, Madlib, Alex Attias & Many others. He has played last week with RICH MEDINA on jump n funk in New York and after that with MADLIB in LA!!!! Doesn’t get better then that! KC who runs Kindred spirits together with the most talented RUSHHOUR crew, will showcase new tracks (which are coming out sometime in the near future) from Dutch based neo soul talents EUGENE & O’JAY as Liquid Spirits who will perform LIVE keeping the AMSTERDAM SCHOOL ALIVE!!! .
